Samim lives in Guwahati, Assam and has pursued her graduation from Assam University in a distance learning mode. Currently, she is working in beauty parlor in Guwahati to meet her monthly expenses. She belongs to a conservative Manipuri Muslim family hailing from a remote town Lakhipur in Assam. She came to Guwahati in search of job few years back and to support her family with three brothers at home. She is an active volunteer of a non-profit WAY Foundation, a Guwahati based youth-led initiative. While volunteering with WAY, she came across with many women folks belonging to the marginalized community.

The amount of challenges faced by these women from such communities are manifolds which has led her to start her initiative of delivery of food. She has the vision of creating financial independence of as many women as possible.

Food Delivery

The initiative started by Shamim mainly works with delivering home made and hygienic tiffin to office goers. In the past 1.5 years, she and her team has delivered more than 2500+ meals to a bunch of happy customers. But more than running a food business, it also financially supports women from marginalized community to run their families.

Apart from running the business, she has created a 5th space within them where the free time in the kitchen is used as adda space, for discussions and sharing, a facility which the women normally never got earlier. She holds monthly gatherings inviting other women from the colony to share and talk about the happiness and challenges they face in their lives. She and her team also motivates members to report domestic violence case with the women commission.
